How to care for your leather bag
To last, our products need to be maintained. A lundi bag can last a lifetime. We take particular care in the choice of our materials, whether leather or cotton canvas. These are hard-wearing materials, but they still require a minimum of maintenance to keep them looking their best over the years.
CARE FOR OUR SMOOTH AND GRAINED LEATHERS
Both our smooth and grained leathers are full-grain leathers, which have undergone a semi-vegetable tanning process. To find out more about this tanning process, click here.
Particularly resistant, leather is perfect for accompanying you everywhere, every day. However, it remains sensitive to light, weather and everyday use... so it's a material that can change shape and appearance depending on your adventures. Proper care of your product is essential to keep it by your side for many years to come.
1. Dust off
Clean any dust or dirt from the leather using the Mini Polisher brush. Of course, you can also use a soft cloth.
2. Clean
If a stain appears on your leather, it's important not to wait to clean it. A damp cloth with a little soap will do the trick. For more persistent stains, you can apply the “Cleanser” developed by the Saphir brand.
3. Nourish
Leather is a material that needs to be regularly nourished to guarantee its durability over time. This operation should be repeated 3 to 4 times a year, depending on the intensity of your use. Vegetable-tanned leather cream is perfectly suited to this task. The “polishing glove” will help you finalize this operation and restore your leather's shine.
Semi-vegetable tanning
Our aim at lundi is to use the most natural leathers possible, which will develop a patina over time while retaining their color and mechanical properties. This is an equation that we are able to solve by working hand-in-hand with expert tanneries that are sensitive to our needs. This mixed tanning process limits the use of chemicals in favor of natural materials (tree bark) - find out more.
CARING FOR OUR SAFFIANO LEATHER
Unlike our smooth and grained leathers, our Saffiano leather benefits from a natural protection provided by its surface lamination, which gives it its characteristic grain. Maintenance is simple...
1. Dust off
Clean any dust or dirt from the leather using the Mini Polisher brush. Of course, you can also use a soft cloth.
2. Clean
A little soap with a cloth soaked in clear water. Use gentle, circular movements. For stubborn stains, use our Cleanser.
CARE FOR OUR COTTON CANVAS
Our cotton fabric already has a water-repellent and stain-resistant treatment that prevents any liquids from soaking in. Even so, regular maintenance is necessary to prolong its life, while keeping it clean and as bright as on the first day.
1. Dust off
Remember to regularly dust your bag with a small brush once or twice a month, depending on how intensively it's used. Should stains appear on your canvas product, simply wipe with a damp cloth and a little soap, then rinse with clean water.
2. Clean
If stains appear on your canvas product, don't wait: clean by applying Textile Cleaner - if necessary, you can use the spreader/cleaning brush.
STORING YOUR BAG IS JUST AS IMPORTANT
If your bag stays at home, it's best to keep it in its protective cover. A clean, dry, well-ventilated place, away from light, will prevent any unpleasant surprises.
To prevent your bag from deforming, use the cushioning paper it came with. Take care not to crush it in a cupboard, while ensuring that the straps are correctly positioned so that they retain their original shape.
